This helped one user
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar and delete your email account.
Then tap Settings > Safari > and Tap Clear History and Clear Cookies and Data.
Now tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar and re-enter your email account details.

Be sure that your settings are Fetch mail for Yathoo. not Push... I had to change that setting to get Yahoo to communicate after haveing deleted Yahoo, cleaning Safari and readding Yahoo.

This solution [alone] did not work for me. However, I am back up and running on my iPhone5 by using the instructions here.
Could well be a combo of the 2 solutions that did the trick!

I was having this issue as well with my Yahoo mail and tried everything. The one thing that worked for me was double clicking the home button, closing the Mail app, then reopening it. Suddenly all my emails synced. Anyone else having this problem should try this. :)

Thanks for the info it was the combination of closing the Mail App and clearing the safari cache and re-entering the mail details in settings. Works perfectly now.
