Hi there,

My iphone 4s recently decided to disabled its wifi option. How do I enable it back?

Reset network settings under Settings/General/Reset (last option (bottom) Reset Network settings.

You may have to  do a Reset All Settings.

My wi-fi option is also greyed out on my 4S, and has been since the 6.1.3 update.  I've reset the network settings, reset all settings, and done two full system restores but the problem persists.  The wi-fi networks in question (home and work) perform fine on other devices.

Now my carrier (AT&T) says they're going to reduce my data usage speeds because I'm relying too much on the 4G network, and strongly suggests I switch to wi-fi whenever possible.

Any other ideas to get wi-fi enabled again?

I'm having the same issue. It started off a couple of months back when my iPhone4s internet connection tend to be sluggish and connecting to my home's modem was very difficult and had to rely very much on my 3G connection.

Yesterday the wi-fi went off totally. I've already did reset network setting, but it didn't work. About to do the reset all setting but after reading chairsee's remark, I didnt - not yet anyway.

Any suggestion? Is this a one off thing or a global phenomenon?

completely discharge the battery of your mobile. keep it that way for about 10-15 minutes just be sure that battery is dead. than recharge your mobile...

Nothing changed. Wi-fi still greyed out.

Thanks for the suggestion, Usman.  I tried it twice but it didn't work for me either.  Both times the wi-fi button came back to life for about 15 minutes, then greyed out again.

I took my phone to the Apple store and was told my best bet is to (pay for the privilege to) upgrade to the 5, even though the problem is clearly with the software, not the hardware. Um, no thanks.

Rizwan, I don't know if this is a global issue, but since I've been searching for a solution over the last couple of weeks, I've seen several threads with hundreds of users reporting this same issue. The bigger the threads got, the angrier the tone, and they've all since been mysteriously deleted (the ones I was tracking, anyway).

Chairsee, I had my wi-fi briefly last weekend but it cant connect to any of my modems at work and at home. When I did the Network reset one more time, it greyed out again and ever since. I have yet to conduct a full reset which I dont think would help after reading most of the posts here and elsewhere.

Its getting increasingly frustrating especially some of my game apps relied solely on the wi-fi connection.

Hey guys, I found another option that may work for some of you:  http://johnharperjr.blogspot.com/2013/02/iphone-gray-wifi-of-death-solved.html

As for me, I'm tired of dealing with this and other annoying issues Apple refuses to fix or that are related to their anti-consumer "our way or the highway" business philosophy.  I'll be replacing my 4S with the HTC One or Samsung Galaxy S4, as soon as I can figure out which one I like better.

    Good luck!
