Q: does itunes movie rentals play right away?

On an Apple TV, movie rentals from Apple play right away. Does the same thing happen on iTunes 11?

Should play as soon as download is over. But consider that if you downloaded movie to one device you may not be able to play it on other once you started playing on first. I do not know what device have what restrictions, but you can find that info here.

"You can move the rental between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period. However, the movie can only be played on one device at a time. If you rent a movie on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV, it is not transferable to any other device and you must watch it on that device."

I think you misunderstood my question.

Apple TV starts streaming the download while it downloads it.

iTunes historically does not start playing it right away.

So from what you're saying, I have to wait for the entire movie to download before it plays?
