I discovered my problem. My computer is on a network. Our personal files are stored on the server and on my desktop. I was over my user disk quota for my offline files on my desktop. Once I bumped up the quota everything started working again. Hope this information helps someone else!

This solved my error message (the itunes library file cannot be saved an unknown error occurred (-50)) as well.
Thank you for your post.

Hi, could you explain how to do this for offline files? Thanks

Jonw_83. I had the same problem and just found out how to adjust the offline file quota.
Control Panel - Sync Center - Manage offline files (on left in Win 7) - Disk Usage Tab - Then just increase the quota on the Offline files.
Seemed to work.

This sync center cache file increase solved the itunes error and it also stopped Adobe CC Premiere from crashing and giving a serious errror.
