I'm having the exact same issue. It came out of nowhere. I think I should get it serviced first and if will still have it, I will get it fixed.
I have Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3. I bought this in early 2011 which is 2010 Model.

Could you please say me, what they will say you in the service. I don't have Apple service in my country. Btw nothing changed for me, after all this time, everything like it was. (sorry again for my language)

I can't help you much. We also don't have Apple official support in our country. Your best bet is to first get your laptop serviced from where you bought it. You should consider it getting fixed or sell it online.
