Q: How to reset forgotten Restrictions password with iPhone restore?

Thanks ivadrian! Got a bit stuck with the editor but copying and pasting the command fixed the code to 1234. Worked smoothly after restoring from iBackupBot with the new code !

Sorry to bother you again but I don't seem to solve this.

The backup text still shows that I added the necessary lines required.

My phone is connected and iTunes is exited and I restore via backupbot but again restriction code doesn't react.

I even changed 1234 to 0000 just to test.

Do you think you can still help? I know you must be quite exhausted with all the post of similar nature :-((

When I load ibackupot, a message comes,

status.plist not found in backup folder

Error: can't load device info!

(but this seems from 2012 backup, whereas i just made a backup in 2013 and make following changes in there and restore from there.

it shows a couple of times as i have ipad and iphones old backup also there.

then i go to library/preferences/ ...springboard.plist

I tries this couple of weeks ago, spent hours on it. This evening, I wanted to do a full reset of my iPhone, but I would give it one more try! Successfully! Thanks again!

Thanks!!! Finally after over a year someone has an answer on how to fix this! I don't know how many times I was told the only thing to be done was to restore the ipod and lose all the data. Considering we never set the restriction passcode on our kids ipods, but was suddenly there after an update to iOS 4 or 5 (I forget which) and it was nothing we ever set, this is finally a solution that worked.

The kids are happy again because we could clean up all the bookmarks they made that could not be removed even connected to itunes.

I have an iPad 2 with 6.1.3 and I have tried all the options shown to no avail.  I have used iBackupBot to edit the items suggested.  One item of note is that the changes made to the com.apple.springboard.plist file do not save.  Each time I reopen the file to edit the changes are gone.  Even in the purchased version of the software.

I am at a loss...I exported the file and used Plist editor to make the changes then imported the changed file and restored it to the iPad.  Still not working.

One more handy thing I have learned while searching for a way to find my lost restrictions passcode...If you turn off the "Set time automatically" feature under Date & Time settings you can then manually set the time for a time beyond the wait period for trying another passcode.  Change the time and you can then try again.

Make sure you're looking in "System Files/HomeDomain/Library/Preferences" folder for the correct one.

I wasn't able to save those changes. I found the file, typed those code lines. Clicked on Save, closed the file and restored but it doesn't change. If I open it again, I see 12 Failed attempts and the code lines I added are not there. I have an iPad and have followed what you suggested. Synced the iPad, backed it up, modified plist file through ibackupbot without ejecting it. But it doesn't get saved. Any suggestion?
