I created a 1/2 page flyer, and I wanted to copy and paste it on the other half, so that I have two same 1/2 page flyers, then I will print and cut in half.

However, when I copy "Select All" and "Copy", when I "Paste" it to the other side, it only brings the images, it won't bring the text boxes.  And then it doesn't bring ALL the images anyway.

What other way can I copy all the text boxes and images on 1/2 the 8/12 x 11 and paste them ALL to the other side? I wouldn't think there would be any other way but to select all, copy and paste.  But it just doesn't work that way.

Also, how would I GROUP the entire 1/2 page of text boxes and images so that possibly I could just copy and paste the whole thing over to the other side?

    Hi Pamela,

The biggest issue preventing you from doing what you want is that you are, I expect, using a Pages word processing template for your flyer. Word processing documents have a text layer, and you cannot select text in the text layer and other objects at the same time.

You can, however, put your text into a set of text boxes. These are treated as objects, and can be selected along with other objects, then copied (or duplicated) all together.

Here's something to try that will demonstrate a method of doing what you want:

Open a document using the Catering Brochure template (found in the Brochures section of the Page layout templates). This is a single fold brochure that you could adapt to us for your flyer.

In the Pages list to the left, click on the icon for Page 2, then press delete (and confirm that you do want to delete Page 2).

The left side of the remaining page (About Molly) will become the page that is to be repeated for the flyer.

Delete the contents of the right half:

    1. If necessary, reduce the magnifiction (box with a % number, lower left corner of the window) so that you can see all of the page on the screen.
    2. Place the mouse pointer just above the bottom edge of the page and just to the right of the blue guideline showing the left-right center of the page. Left click and hold as you drag the mouse up and to the right to select every object on that side of the page.
    3. When all elements are selected, release the mouse button, then press delete.

Now move a copy of the About Molly page to the right side of the page:

    1. Click on the (now empty) rigt side of the page to ensure you do not have any text selected or activated.
    2. Select All (command-A).
    3. Press and hold the option key as you click and drag the page contents to the right. When they are in the correct position (or really close), release the mouse button to drop the copy onto the page.
    4. With all elements of the copy still selected, tap the arrow keys to nudge the copy into exact position on the page.

If you're printing two-sided flyers, omit the step of deleting page 2, and repeat the above process on that page.

    Regards,

    Barry

Actually, I used a blank document and then I always put everything in text boxes so I can move them where I want.  I don't, however, put the images in text boxes.  I just place those.

Okay, wait I think I didn't explain this correctly.  I had just copied everything on my page, and as I was reading and following your instructions you said now DELETE the right half, then move the contents to the right side of the page.

My design is on the left side of the page. So I assume that's what you meant.

However I'm a little confused as to your procedure.

Once I have the items selected on the left side of the page, I don't want to delete them! LOL I have saved the page, but that's a scary thought LOL

I'm trying to DUPLICATE what I've done on the left side and place it on the right side so that I have TWO 1/2 sheet flyers that I can print out and then just cut in half.

IF I delete the left side, and place it on the right side, then I have nothing on the left side.  Do I then go back and place it back on the left side?

If I used a BLANK canvas, rather than a template, maybe that is my problem? I can't put ANYTHING on the right side of the paper because it just wants to copy it on the same left side where the design is.

Woe . . . did that make sense?

Okay, I had forgotten exactly how I got the WIDE page.  See, I started off choosing a BLANK template because I wanted to design my own.  But I realized that you can't get a WIDE page, but only a TALL page, when you choose a BLANK template.

So I found a WIDE template, deleted page 2, kept page 1, and then deleted everything on that page, and created my own.

So you are saying that I cannot copy everything BECAUSE I've used a "template" and not a blank page?

I designed everything in TEXT boxes -- except I didn't put the images in text boxes.

So I'm not understanding how you are saying to copy everything on the left over to the right.  Is that even possible now? UGH!!! After all this work?  Oh no!!!

You can have a wide or tall blank template. There are both in the Template Chooser, or you can simply chose landscape from your Page Setup.

Hold down your command key and lasso all your left half design.

Menu > Arrange > Group just so you won't accidentally disturb anything.

Then option shift drag it sideways to make a duplicate set next to the first.

Now move a copy of the About Molly page to the right side of the page:

Okay, I just did your MOLLY example and it worked perfectly.  So let me try doing that with my page using your same procedure.

Okay, thank you very much.  The "MOLLY" example explained what was necessary to get it all to the other side.  I kind of screwed up a little bit, but I can easily delete the right side and do it a couple more times for perfection.

    Thank you so very much.

Sorry for the confusion about the 2 threads.  I was kind of starting out asking ONE question, and then from there I decided to ask a different question, and thought I should not confuse 2 questions in one thread.  Sigh . . .

But you solved it for me.  I appreciate it very much.  It was looking hopeless there for a minute! LOL

You can have a wide or tall blank template. There are both in the Template Chooser, or you can simply chose landscape from your Page Setup.

Another quick question.  If I choose a premade template, I can choose wide or tall and then just delete the template content.  But if I just choose a BLANK page, File > New > Blank > Choose,  where do I find landscape to turn the blank page making it wide?

There are blank templates for both orientations in both Word Processing and Layout mode in the Template Chooser.

But you can change the Orientation of any template (but not its contents which you'll have to rearrange):

Menu > File > Page Setup… > Orientation: click on either the portrait or landscape icons
