Q: Aperture will not open on my new MacBook Pro. I'm running version 10.8.3.

The following message appears:

 

"Check with the developer to make sure Aperture works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X."

 

I've reinstalled Aperture twice, and installed all available updates, but this message continues to pop up.

    Aperture 2 is very old.

     

    I know that Aperture 3.4.3 runs fine on Mountain Lion 10.8.3.

    This is usually acompanied by a crash log of Aperture in a "send feedback to Apple" window. What does the crash report in that window say? If you can find it, post the first fifty lines.

     

    Have you installed anything else recently after you upgraded to 10.8.3? For example Final cut? what version?

    Hi,

     

    I didn't upgrade to Mountain Lion - since I got my computer yesterday it came pre-installed. Though I did in stall Final Cut Express (version 4 i think). Also, I purchased Aperture in September 2011, so I don't think it is Aperture 2?

    The Final Cut installation has corrupted your system library - a framework is missing - the PluginManager.framework has been overwritten by something incompatible. This error is well known, see: Aperture 3.x: Aperture unexpectedly quits if Final Cut Express 4 is installed. You need to reinstall your MacOS version, since probably do not yet have a Time Machine backup from before the FinalCut installation. You can reinstall  by booting into the Recovery partition or by using the combo updater:
