I'm running the latest version of bootcamp 5 on Lion.  The hardward is an iMac with an AMD Radeon 6770M video card.

Whenever windows wakes from sleep, it is unresponsive, and then will crash without getting to the login screen.  The driver that caused the crash is idgkmd32 driver - which I believe is related to the graphics card.

Bootcamp was a fresh install. I"m not running anything that I would expect to cause a problem - like AV.

Has anyone else encountered t his?  How can I check for updated Bootcamp Drivers?

thanks for your help,

Tongzie

thank you - I was looking in windows for it...

I'm going to try to reinstall the drivers, but I'd be interested to know if anyone else had the same problem.  If it's only me, then I'm guessing something is corrupted.

I'm having the same problem on a brand new 2012 iMac with Windows 8.  I come into the office, wake it up, it thinks for about 10-30 seconds, sometimes the mouse works for a brief period, then it BSODs (W8 style).

    Side note about drivers:

The Boot Camp 5 installation appeared to complete fine upon initial W8 install, but inspecting Device Manager reveals that at least the video driver did not install (W8 is using the generic display driver).  I suspect others may not have installed properly either.  When launching the BC5 nvidia setup directly, the app errors out with no useful information.  When running the latest Nvidia setup from their website (newer version of what BC5 has), it claims there's no compatible hardware to install the driver for.  Manual driver install works (right mouse-click/install on nv_disp.inf), but the problem remains.

My gut tells me that the BSOD might be related to some other failed driver install.

I have a current generation iMac 27"...bought when they came out at end of year last year. Everything has been working great for several months now, with Windows 8 on BOOTCAMP. Within the last couple of weeks, something has happened resulting in some kind of instability in Windows 8. I know that I installed some Windows 8 updates, and new nvidia software/drivers. Now, upon boot into Windows a dialog comes up, titled Program Compatibility Assistant, that tells me that Boot Camp 4 has compatibility issues. I end up clicking on "Run the program without getting help" and moving on. I am then able to work and work and work. The problem comes after the computer goes into Sleep mode, and I wake it up. Within less than thirty seconds, the computer crashes with some blue screen and a message that tells me that something went terribly wrong and important information is going to be saved and then the computer will be restarted. Two issues mentioned on the error screens have been PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA & SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.

I tried doing a system restore to before I applied the Windows Updates, but that did not resolve the issue. I am beginning to suspect the new nvidia drivers. Is there a way to go back to previous drivers? Is there actually a Boot Camp 5, in which case I should probably try installing that?

I believe Bootcamp 5 is necessary for Windows 8.

    Hello,

I have exactly the same problem, I've found several people who are reporting it in different forums but no solutions. I have Bootcamp 5.... ...5033 installed on windows 8 on a 2012 Imac 27", everytime wakes from sleep 10 seconds then BSOD and restart. Any ideas?

Same problem here on late 2012 27" iMac running Windows 8 and Bootcamp 5. On wake the computer freezes and blue screen of death.

If you can live with settings for not not portable/sleeping - display can still be timed out (double click my Pic) then you can get rid of large C:Hiberfile required by Sleep by entering (Run as administrator) Command prompt: "powercfg -h off" without the quotes.

Thanks for the reply, I guessed that might work but not an option for me as im constanly movign from customer to customer, last thing I want is the mac overheating in my lapotp bag because it hasnt turned itself off when I close the lid.

I wonder why no mac support has tried to jump in and help as it seems fairly widespead and they advertise bootcamp as a feature so they should support the basic functions of it.

    Finally fixed it

    Windows 8

    • Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options
    • in the selected power plan box click change box settings
    • Click change advanced settings
    • Scroll down to power buttons and lid
    • Expand Lid Close Action
    • Change both settings from Sleep to Hibernate

This takes a few seconds longer to start back up but it works flawlessly on all machines i done it on so far.

Now to fix my corrupted OS becuase of all the bluescreens

    any questions let me know

One other thing that seemed to fix this on a mid-2011 iMac: Go to advanced power management settings and disable "hyrbid sleep mode".  Working so far!

Thank you. This tip solved the issue. I could live with this issue by not using the sleep mode, because Windows 8 is purely for using certain entertainment software that's tailored for it. But it is nice to use this mode instead of shutting it down and rebooting. Hopefully Apple will have an update for this issue down the road. Once again, thank you very much.
