FaceTime not working

I have purchased Facetime for my OS X and it is suddenly not working. Everytime I try and make a call it will sometimes say "connecting" and then it will say that the person is not available for FaceTime, when they are. My wifi and everything is working accordingly but for some reason FaceTime is not working. If someone could help me I'd really appreciate it!!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
