Otherwise I would have said a GTX 570 or above such as 670. As you see from one thread you need to realize that there are only two 6-pin connectors that limit what you can do or you get into a 450W PSU add-on and trouble with cables (such as using the 2nd optical drive bay).

Sorry but none of that helped me in the slightest i looked up the car ratings on pass mark the 5770 got a 1,673 score while the 5870 got a 2,567. now obviously the 5870 has the better stand alone score but will the combined 5770's beat it?

A quad 3.2 or hex 3.33 with 8gig and a 5850 or the new 7950 should do what you ask. As hatter said, you can't run SLI. You can build a PC for gaming and buy a mac-mini running both to a single monitor, that strategy also works. A new iMac 27" with gtx680 is also a strategy.
