Maximum Memory 8.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple) Memory Slots 2 - 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM Always add memory in matched pairs. Do not attempt to use faster rated memory. Stick to Apple's specs.

You say that you have a Mid 2010 MacBook, that supports 16 GB of memory. This MacBook uses DDR3 1066 MHz RAM, as you can see in this site > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1651?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#link1
That's the memory you have to buy, but you don't specify what DDR memory type is the memory you want to buy for the MacBook. To guarantee its compatibility, buy the memory in OWC or Crucial > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3_Whi te
