Mar 22, 2013 3:34 PM in response to bboytorunby drdocument,When you are connecting from another Mac (or other computer) on your local network, it's not actually Back to My Mac, but Sharing. Sharing works on the local network irrespective of BtMM.
What settings are available on the Mini running OS X Server? Do you have iCloud settings? That's where you activate BtMM. (Sorry; I'm not familiar with OS X Server.) Is there a way to configure OS X Server for remote management?
Here is a post from someone who was apparently successful.

The server is not running the whole time. It actually is a normal OSX 10.8.3. with iCloud. And all other synchronisation is fine, except BtMM from outside the home network. My other mac at home is seeing the mini just fine and BtMM works fine. Just an issue from the outside.

Aha! Thanks. Is the Mini on your local network via wi-fi? Is it set to "Wake for network access?" Is Back to My Mac checked in the Mini's iCloud prefs? (It needs to be.)
BtMM operates only when you are connecting from outside your local network.
Do you still have any MobileMe settings on the Mini? Is BtMM enabled there? That should be gone now.
If BtMM is enabled in iCloud prefs on the Mini, you might try setting the Mini to never sleep, just to see if BtMM works then.
