never heard of any iphone which ever supported playing music over usb
usb mean universal serial bus and is a digital interface which does not carry audio

I can confirm this. I've used my iPhone 5 for months in my Honda via the USB interface, and after upgrading to 6.1.3 I got the "not supported" message.
I think that I've found the fix: turn off the phone, and then turn it back on again. Yeah, it sounds lame and Windows-esque, but it fixed it for me.

Not sure you are aware but recently auto manufactures have put USB connections in their vehicles as opposed the the AUX connection. The USB allows my phone to play music like an ipod.
