I am not on the Cloud so I don't have that problem. My new Apple ID is properly installed but I still get dialog box asking me to sign in for apps bought (for free) under prior Apple ID. Can I solve that problem by deleting "old" apps and repurchasing them under the new ID? I assume anything that I now purchase will be under new ID. If I delete all of the old ones and repurchased them again, will I have solved my problem? Anything else I should do? Thanks for your help.

Check in Settings>iTunes and App Stores if its the new Apple ID. if so, yes, only for old apps you have to delete and re-purchase them. Notice that you will lose all apps data. (Like a progress of a game).

Settings>iCloud>Delete Account then add the new one.
Read the last part of Rander's post.

I am not using iCloud. After changing my Apply ID I deleted all prior apps and reloaded new ones. All show up on my iPhone as added after the ID change. I assumed that by doing so I had purged the system of my old ID. Yet I still get a dialog box asking me to sign in under my old ID but it will not accept the old password. Suggestions? I just cancel and things continue to work fine. Annoying.

Search for your old Apple ID:
In your iPhone:
- Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars
- Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
- Settings>iTunes and App Stores
- Settings>Music>Home Sharing
In your Computer:
- iTunes>iTunes Store>your account(upleft corner)
