    Hello ,

i posted my problems regarding Email Searching via iCloud-Webfrontend and iPhone two month ago. Seems, nothing changed yet. I just wanted to know, if someone has to report something positive...

    Report issue here: www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html

Hopefully we can get this solved if enough people report this issue they are having. Very annoying!

I switched back to apple mail when I picked up my iphone 5 and wished I hadn't. Back to gmail for me - search is essential for mail, without it I can only access the last 20 or so reciepts, plus Ive discovered that even when I do search the results are sporadic, often pullling out 2 week old mails and ignoring newer ones.

Apple - fail. concentrate on your existing users eh?

I have the exact same problem, i think it never really worked for me since mobileme times... would be great, if you'd share your answer from apple support, if any

Has anyone at all gotten any sort of response from apple on this?  This does seem like something they would want to and should be able to fix with minimal development effort.

I do have this same problem and hope it is fixed soon.  It only seems to be an issue for me on the iCloud.com web interface.  I am able to search fine using my iPad and iPhone.

I'm going to stick with the iCloud mail for now because I require the push to my iPhone and iPad so that I am notified immediately when a mail comes in.

    Thanks!

I just set up my iCloud.com email and copied my gmail inbox over to do a like-for-like comparison, and of course have ended up reading threads like this because the search doesn't seem to work. I can't believe this issue is still outstanding since November 2011!!? What are Apple thinking not fixing this?

I'm throwing my hat into the ring -- iCloud mail search is terrible. It is by far the worst of any web mail service that I have used. It's very inconsistent.

As others have noted, MobileMe Mail used to work reasonably well. Something changed with iCloud and Apple has never fixed it.

I am replying because I thought this thread needs to be kept alive until it is addressed, and anyone who comes across it should add their reply of disappointment.

what a load of crap i thought i was typing in the wrong search items then i decided to put all the mails i had from one contect, about 10 plus into one folder then I searched in that folder for the email address i could see in front of me and yes you guessed it no results found. what a crock of ****. back to hotmail for me.

Mine is the exact same, the spinning wheel of death has gone but now when I search for emails from a particular I usually get emails from years ago and usually maybe 1 or 2. I think everyone needs to email apple through apple.com/feedback and let them know about this. It's ridicoulous or a company with such attention to detail when it comes to industrial design but absolutely crap when it comes to the simplest of software abilitiles.

I have been an incredibly loyal Apple fan for over 20 years but it's seriosuly starting to wane now. It will definately be the straw that broke the camels back!!

The thing to remember is that Apple provides things like iCloud, email etc as a way to bolster their ecosystem and get people to buy more hardware. Nothing wrong with this, but it does mean that iCloud email, for example, isn't a primary revenue generator so is inherently never going to receive as much attention as, say, the hardware of the next iPhone (which is where they make their money).

On the other hand, a company like Google directly receives revenue from the use of their email app (through serving ads), so it will be higher up in their priorities. Until Apple devotes sufficient attention to these 'ancillary' products, they will always be inferior. The unfortunate thing is that while these services may be ancillary to Apple, they are not so to the users, hence the frustration when basic features are missing.

This is the logic that, for me, explains why Apple's web services just don't compete very well with other players who'se comparative services are their core business. There are so many examples Siri vs Google Voice search, Maps vs Google Maps, Maps navigation vs Siri, iCloud email/calendar vs Google Calendar/Email, the list goes on.

That's incredibly well put pinksteady and I never thought of it like that before. Mind you when you paid for MobileMe or .Mac it was still pretty **** and never seemed to work right. I guess it wasn't a huge priority back then either. It just frustrates me so much as a simple thing like search seems to bloody simple to fix.

Not that well put because I meant "Maps navigation vs Waze"! Still, you get the idea.

Perhaps charging for MobileMe while it was still a side-project and not up to standard was part of the reason for its downfall.
