I may just have to take that route.  I may just wait a week or so just incase there is some type of response from Apple if this is a very large issue affecting many.  Luckily, the gmail app that I'm suing works for the time being.

I'm having the same problem.  None of my email accounts work after I updated to 6.1.3.  It is the update.  My email was working the seconds before I updated.  I hate this phone.

NO, I'm having the same problems.  My email is no longer wokring after updating to the 6.1.3.  How do you undo this update.  My phone was working perfectly without this update.

I've been searching online and there doesn't appear to be a solution as of yet.  Worse yet, even though many peopel have reported this immediately upon the 6.1.3 update, apparently many people and definitely Apple refuse to believe that it has anything to do with the iOS update.  For me, its just gmail that appears to be an issue as many others have reported since the 6.1.3 update. Yahoo and my corporate email through Exchange are still working...this is on my iPad.  My iPhone 5 is fine after the update.

I also noticed that the battery on my iPad is draining pretty fast now as well.  This has been another issue that many have reported after the 6.1.3 update.  Even on standby, my battery will drop a few percentages in a couple of hours...that was not the case prior to the 6.1.3.

There are other questions similars on these forums regarding both of these issues...no solutions yet however.  Just look at the right-hand side of this page under the "More like this" heading.

Unfortunately, the only thing to do at this time is to wait and see if Apple acknowledges any of this and provides a fix.  I won't hold my breath.

I am also having a problem on my 4S phone with the Apple Mail app that just started with the 6.1.3 update.  This only occurs using the wireless LAN at my workplace.  The same app with the same account settings works fine on my wireless network at home, which is a secure network.  It also works fine just using 3G cellular access to the internet.

As I said, it is only on my workplace network that I receive this error message:

"Cannot Get Mail.  The mail server "imap.gmail.com" is not responding.  Verify that you have entered the correct account info in Mail settings."

I have tried rebooting the phone, but it does no good.  Other apps, including Gmail and G-Whizz!, work fine on this same network. It only affects the Apple Mail app.  I also use the same wireless network with my Macbook Pro, and the Mail app and gMail via a browser -- all work fine.  It only affects the phone and only on this one network.

My thought is it may have something to do with the WPA-Enterprise security that my workplace network uses.  This requires an 802.1X authentication server.  While the iPhone manages to log into the network fine, there seems to be some new wrinkle introduced in 6.1.3 that causes incompatibility when the IMAP protocol is utilized on top of the WPA-Enterprise security.

But it would have to do only with the IMAP protocol implemented in the Mail app since other apps still work fine.

Hope someone at Apple is listening...  It would sure be nice to get this fixed.

Thanks for the additional info David.

For me, both my iPhone 5 and iPad 3 have wi-fi setup for home and for work and in both locations wi-fi works fine for everything but on the iPad, gmail is still a no-go.

I tried shutting off wi-fi at both locations and using Verizon LTE to setup gmail...still a no-go.

On top of that, it does appear that the battery is draining much faster now after the update.

Both issues are now widely being reported and can be found online all over the place.

I have an iPad 2 and 4S phone, so can't compare apples to apples, so to speak .  It is odd that you can't get Gmail to work over cellular, though.  I wonder if Verizon uses WPA-Enterprise security and my carrier, Sprint, doesn't?

Have you tried the Gmail app?  It's available for free in the App Store.  I don't like its interface quite as much as the Mail app, but it is working and keeping me up-to-date through this 6.1.3 mini-crisis.

Yeah, I'm using another application for Safe Gmail for the time being.  I haven't tried the Gmail app but will give that a try as well.

UPDATE:  Just tried the gmail app and when signing in, it exhibits the same symptom as the Apple Mail application.  Pops up for a second and then shuts down.  Safe Gmail works however.

Izzy, in reading your posts two things come to mind:

1- Did you perform the 6.1.3 iOS update over Wi-Fi right from the iPad, or did you update it through iTunes?  If you did the update over Wi-Fi then you don't get the full iOS package, and perhaps something went awry in the installation (which could explain the difference with your iPhone, even if you also did that over the air perhaps it did not have any disruption).

2- No matter if you updated iOS over Wi-Fi or via iTunes (which I suspect is more reliable) I don't see in your posts where you've completely Restored (i.e. erased) your iPad.  If you have not done so, connect to iTunes and perform the Restore operation, which will first prompt you to do a backup.  Do the backup, which you re-load at the end of the Restore operation to recover all your settings, etc.  Note that if you did the 6.1.3 update over Wi-Fi then the full iOS package will be downloaded to your computer and then installed on your iPad.  This may very well correct your problem.  If not, you can try again but without loading your backup (i.e. start as a new device) which requires you to re-do all your settings, and loss of Messages, etc.

    It was done via wi-fi.

If I backup, restore, will all items be back?  Apps, data in apps, wi-fi settings, certs (I have for work), Activesync, etc.?

We might be onto something ...

Yes, that's the point of having a backup.  All your accounts, settings, iMessages, Camera Roll are restored as they were, and your media files and apps are re-loaded from your iTunes library (make sure that any recent purchases have been transferred to your library).  The only thing you'll have to re-do is your passcode, and perhaps some account passwords (for security reasons they're not carried forward).

There is a chance that whatever is wrong with your iPad is embedded into your backup file, so re-loading it could perpetuate the problem.  But at least you'll be no worse off than you are today, and you can always try again but not load your backup and spend a few hours putting things back in order.

    Hi guys I'm David

I'm a PC tech and an Exchange specialist. I've actually narrowed it down to the fact that Apple decided to block any certificate that is coming into the idevices.

I use an iphone for everyday use. The iphone 4s Running 6.1.2 has gmail exchange. (for the reason of using the contacts off of gmail.)

When they released 6.1.3 it nerfed the ability for me to see any of the contacts on my account(s). Further noted that this is a 'APPLE THING' My lifestyle isn't important but my actual work life is. I had to go to a android for the ability to read the umpteen thousands of contacts I use on a daily basis.

It is important to make a fuss about this because, it is APPLE Needs to know this. Someplace the certificates aren't being handed across, in update 6.1.3.

I need my work life back. I need those contacts seemlessly like it has been all these years. Give me the ability to accept the certificate(s). It isn't part of a Jailbreak its part of the way I can get paid and eat food, pay my bills, etc

As for my email pffft. who cares about that I need the contacts.

I have security certificates on both my iPhone 5 and the iPad 3 (both are work issued) and the iPhone appears to be fine but the iPad 3 is the one exhibiting the issue with gmail and the battery drainage.  I've not been able to get any of the work arounds to pan out for me.  I'm holding off on doing a complete restore to see if Apple ever decides to be that "user friendly" company that they've always claimed to be and acknowledge that there is an issue.

Except many of us who have Gmail set up as an Exchange account aren't having any problem accessing our Gmail contacts.

Not only does it still work (if set up prior to 1/31/13) Google and Apple both have articles on using a CardDAV account type if you want to set up Gmail contacts on iOS, so it's not as impossible as xdrakermithken makes it out to be.
