So I realized today the Trackpad works fine if I do some pressure on the two sides besides the trackpad, or even just one side with the other hand. That would mean the problem is a defective contact somewhere in the hardware. I just workaround this now and hope it fixes itself sometime...

I am having the same trouble on my MacBook Air with 10.8.2 Mountain Lion.  The trackpad worked perfectly before, and then as soon as I updated the system, it is now intermittent.  I have tried everything mentioned above (removing launch services items, using Onyx, repairing permissions, reinstalling, and so on), and still no luck.  I hope they fix it.  It does work with 10.8 and 10.8.1 perfectly.

I recently had the same thing happen.  I updated and the next day the track pad started working erractically.

To fix it, I turned the computer off, used a cleaner for my eyeglasses and made sure I cleaned the trackpad really well.  I used a tip of a needle to clean out the edges of the trackpad, as it was dirtier than I thought.  Maybe something about the update makes the trackpad more sensitive to dirt.  In other threads I read not to use hand lotions before using trackpad and to keep the trackpad as clean as possible.

    This completely solved the problem.

    Hi Ladies and Gents.

I read this complete thread looking for a fix and I was dissapointed that there was no real answer here to fix the same problem others here were having. I have always been a PC person, but kicked them as being non productive. With PC'S it's always good to shut down the PC and cold boot it. (Wait 10 seconds restart.)

I shut down my iMac and restarted it, this did not fix my problem, next I turned bluetooth off then back on again in the menu bar.

This fixed my problems all gestures working perfectly. I'm not trying to be a smarty-pants but it's fixed for me.

You have some real smart members here much more clever than me, as I'm still leaerning Macs. I own 2 currently an iMac CPU 3.1GHz Intel core i5 27" 16GB DDR3

    & MacBook Pro 15" Retina 8Gb.

Both Mac's have OSX 10.8.2 Mountain Lion

Always try the simple things first, and don't dig yourselves a hole...

Try this first Ladies & Gents, hope it may help others here.

You all have a nice week.

    Best regards crobbot

I have a MBP Retina Mid 2012. After waking up the MacBook, the keyboard and trackpad was not working (and is still not working). I tried most of these suggestions but without success. I can just use my bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Very frustrating...

Hi, I went to a Genius Bar an they did a Hardware Check. They told me that it is the Hardware and they ordered a new Top Case. I think I will get my MBP back this week and I am hoping that The Problem is fixed.

The problem was I had no Right Mouse button apart from using Ctrl button or two fingers click.

Left and rigth switching mouse buttons or bottom cornders trackpad were not working.

    Thanks

The same problem. It takes a few seconds before my trackpad wakes up again after inactivity but in /Library/LaunchAgents and .../LaunchDaemons I can't find "com.google.keystone..." on my MBP.

Any ideas, how to solve the problem?

I am having a kind of similar issue with my new Macbook Air which i just bought.

The trackpad is working fine and properly. But if I wait exactly 15 seconds and then use the trackpad again the first fast move I make, makes the mouse courser JUMP. The distance and position equals the move I make. But why does is awkwardly jump? Like a lag?

Within the 15 seconds there is no jump at all. Same thing when I am resting my finger on the trackpad and move it then. No issue there.

The ONLY reproducible  scenario is: I don't use the trackpad for 15 seconds. The very first FAST move after that, makes the courser jump.

I also have a Macbook Pro Mid 2010 with 10.8.3 and I do not have this jumping courser behavior regardless how long the trackpad idled.

The jump absolutely feels like with these Bluetooth mice where there is an input lag because the laser idles to safe energy.

What the heck is this? I have already tried almost everything from this thread. Deleting the Launch/ things. Creating a new user ... But nothing worked. I am waiting until weekend. Then I will make a clean install of the OS. Because I cannot proof that the issue started from the very beginning. Unfortunately I have noticed it after several hours.

Brand new MBA 13" with 10.8.3.

    Trackpad is laggy.

Two finger swipes sometimes don't move curser.

Curser lags when it finds a link while two-finger swiping.

    Curser jumps off screen.

Two finger side swipe to page back takes three swipes to work.

Takes two clicks to select items.

I have the same problem and no fix..
It's a new use case, because i have not install google software, I use onyx, check my disk, repairs authorizations etc etc, and the slow boot is still here.

    bbleyzat,

look at your Alert Messages and see what is causing the error, mine say is a UXB Driver error, what I do to fix it, I uninstall external software from apple store and it have been like a month weed no more issues, at the begining I leave my rMBP on linke an hour until keyboard and trackpad work again, Try this
