The last few weeks, my iPod has been skipping songs.  It tends to be the same songs, often times it's entire albums, but that's not always the case.  Sometimes songs that worked the day before will suddenly not work.  Usually what will happen when a song doesn't work, is that it will cycle through every song in the album until it finds one that it can play, at which point it will play normally, and I can often (but not always) then go back through the songs that didn't work with the back button and they'll work.  If it never finds a song that it can play, it will just cycle to the end of the album, often freezing when I hit the menu button to select a different album.

I've tried restoring the iPod, resynching the songs, converted my entire library to mp3, and using 3rd party software to sync.  The only result has been it's different albums that don't play.  For example, I first noticed the problem when some songs off of Tobacco Road by Common Market would skip.  Resynching didn't solve the problem, but after converting my whole library to mp3 and resynching, Tobacco Road works fine, but now Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots by Flaming Lips, which previously played fine, doesn't play at all.

The seems to have been started following my dropping the iPod in a puddle a few weeks ago, so I might have just shorted something.  But before I go out and get another iPod, I would like to know if their is potentially another solution to this problem.
