Mar 27, 2013 11:34 AM in response to abaldwin360by Ralph Landry1,Look at the apple in the left corner of the menu bar, About This Mac, and does it say you have 10.8.3 installed?
Is the message coming from the App Store? There may be other updates if that is the source of the message.

Mar 27, 2013 11:37 AM in response to Ralph Landry1by abaldwin360,Yes, 10.8.3 is installed, does not appear to come from the apple store. This is the same update notification I was receiving before the update, it is telling me that an update to 10.8.3 is available, but I have already updated

Mar 27, 2013 11:38 AM in response to abaldwin360by Eric Root,You can hide an update.
You can also try reindexing Spotlight.

Mar 27, 2013 11:37 AM in response to abaldwin360by drdocument,Is this notice in App Store? It should go away after a short time.
Try choosing Updates in App Store again.
Is there more than one user account on your Mac? If so, you can log into the different account and check Update from App Store there as well.

Mar 27, 2013 11:41 AM in response to Eric Rootby abaldwin360,I have not tried re-indexing spotlight, I will give that a try as soon as I get a chance (I'm at work right now on my PC) and let you guys know if it worked.
Thank you!

Mar 28, 2013 8:57 AM in response to Eric Rootby abaldwin360,Re-indexing spotlight didn't work, after re-indexing, I shut down, re-started and got the same thing, I took a few pictures to illustrate exactly what is happening:
After logging in I have this icon (with the arrow pointing to it)
It asks to update to Mountain Lion 1.8.2
The problem is, I have already upgraded to 1.8.2
It will not go away, even after disabling notifications and re-indexing spotlight - it's like the computer is stuck thinking that the upgrade has not bee applied.

Mar 28, 2013 10:32 AM in response to abaldwin360by Eric Root,Since Mountain Lion is now up to 10.8.3 (screen shots show 10.8.2), try using the 10.8.3 combo updater or the 10.8.2 Supplemental updater. Apple released a 10.8.2 updater and a 10.8.2 Supplemental Updater, which may be why you are being prompted to update again. Not knowing the age of your computer, I posted both supplemental updaters. Check which one is correct for your machine.

Mar 28, 2013 11:03 AM in response to abaldwin360by keg55,Do you have any external drives with a prior version of OS X on them? Like a clone of SL or Lion or some prior version of ML?

Mar 29, 2013 6:52 AM in response to Eric Rootby abaldwin360,Okay, I got it sorted out.
It turns out what happened was the 'cleanup' portion on the update to 10.8.2 never executed.
It had left a hidden directory in /Users/Shared/ named .mtnlion - this directory contained the installer/updater app that kept coming up on the dock when first booting up.
I opened the console and went to root using sudo su - then used ls -la /Users/Shared/ to show the hidden directories, sure enough the .mtnlion directory was there.
Once I deleted this directory using rm -Rf I rebooted and the updater was no longer on the dock and did not prompt for an update.
Hopefully, this will be helpful if anyone else runs into this problem.

Mar 29, 2013 7:11 AM in response to abaldwin360by Ralph Landry1,Good detective work...have you done the 10.8.3 install yet? If not, get the Combo version by clicking Support (upper right side of the button bar for this window), Downloads, OS and Software, Mountain Lion 10.8.3 Combo updater, do that one instead of the incremental, it is much better. I have found the Combo to work better on some systems than the App Store download.
