Q: I cannot send emails from my new Road Runner account in Mail although all the settings appear correct. The only difference I see in the Preferences is that road runner does not require any authentication and there is no "None" in the pull down menu.

My internet provider recently upgraded me to Road Runner. I have set up the email acount numerous times to discover that I cannot send any emails. My internet provider (Oceanic Time Warner) insists that this is a problem related to my computer. The one notable item I have noticed is that Road Runner does not require authentication, yet there is no "None" in the pull down menu in the Apple mail setup program. Suggestions would be very welcome at this point.

You may not be aware that this Apple service fails to work for some widely used email providers such as Gandi.

Oceanic RR works with Apple mail. However, to send mail your computer must be connected to a network that is routed thru the Oceanic cable modem. There is a special smtp server for mobile devices.

Tried your suggestion to no avail. All the settings are correct according to the site and according to Time Warner Cable. I think I'll just use my old account until Oceanic either hires someone who can troubleshoot Mac issues or there is a new kid in town for internet service. Thanks so much for your taking the time to reply.
