And if you write in similar vein to what I read here, I'm not at all surprised they don't reply.

Whining? Are you simple? How many Apple devices do you have that you are limited in what you can buy to use on them? Does your App store have just about everything you want? Well, at an inflated price in comparison to most other countries, I have purchased an iMac, MacBook pro 17", an iPad and 2 iPhones and sadly Apple are limiting my usage. This is an Apple forum on the official Apple site where I am at liberty to whine and voice my opinion and where you are not obliged to read my posts.  When you see my name, just skip down to the next post.

No 71. As an Apple customer I am entitled to an answer. I have purchased Apple products and Apple are limiting my choice of what I can purchase for my devices. How many times have you tried to purchase an App and when directed to your store do you find out the App is not available to you. When you've experienced this with almost everything you want, then get back onto this forum and tell us South Africans how you enjoyed the experience.  I tell it just like it is!

Yes, it's whining when you persist in making post after post in a place that does neither you nor anyone any good. What part of "everyone here is just a fellow user" has not come through clearly? Or are you simple?

I have further interest in arguing with you. Don't bother to reply.

Okay I am through listening to this sense of entitlement. Nowhere has Apple promised you that you will be able to purchase anything. If you have any evidence to the contrary, please post it, but I won't be viewing it as I am done with this thread. I would suggest that anyone else who has tried to help you do the same.

Just curious from my point of view. If it is a copyright issue, why can one buy almost 99% of all steam games legally in SA?

Apple just needs to sign an agreement with the South Africa Film and Publications Board. They do the same thing with PEGI (Europe) and ACB (Australia), so why are they skipping our country?

Then direct your posts to Apple's corporate offices.   There is no point whatsoever in resurrecting an old contentious thread like this one.   It is dead.

And how exactly do you "direct" your posts to Apple. Submitting Feature Requests for the last 7 years have completely gone unnoticed by Apple. I was explaining to another Apple user what the current status is. I wasn't asking Apple anything, as they clearly just ignore anyone from South Afirca about this issue (search discussion board: "games south africa"). We also know that is the main reason why they won't enter the market officially, but remain a distributor model, as they will then have to open e-mail, phone and store locations where they will have to provide a direct answer to us.

    Write their corporate office.

Ok, I sent an e-mail to Tim Cook. Writing a actual physical letter would cost quite a bit of money (post from South Africa to USA is expensive).

I believe that the hold-up is not just the signing of the agreement, but the approval of draft FPB regulations by the relevant ministry. I quote from an email from the FPB itself, published on the FB group "Let's Get ALL GAMES & APPS on SA iTunes App Store", as follows:

"As the Film and Publication Board we are obligated by the Film and Publications Act (Act 65 of 1996) as amended to regulate films, games and certain publications. Such regulation is exercised using classification of content inorder to protect children and inform sensitive viewers.

Apple as a distributor of content that is regulated by the above piece of legislation is required to register as a distributor with the FPB in order to distribute content legally. Such content is also subject to classification in line with the law stated above.

As the FPB we have held numerous positive meetings with representatives of Apple, aimed at creating means for the Apple and other online distributors to distribute their offering with limited hindrance yet through compliant means.

Was the FPB we have developed draft regulations in this regard which are currently being considered for approval by the Ministry of Home Affairs and which we are certain, will alleviate the frustration you express.

As the FPB, we are working closely with Apple on the matter and are satisfied that the process currently underway will lead to positive results.

We implore you to be patient and to be comforted that we are handling the matter in liaison with Apple and that we will have a solution soon. "

I believe that this was from Nthabiseng May and if you want to email, the relevant email addres is (all lowercase) firstname (dot) surname (at) fpb (dot) org (dot) za.
