Mar 29, 2013 1:30 PM in response to eric199by Tom Wolsky,What are the specs of the media? Where are you exporting to? Are the permissions correct? Is there iTunes media in the project?

Mar 29, 2013 1:49 PM in response to eric199by eric199,Also pulled, installed and restarted with new video codecs per system update.
All ran fine before I installed 10.0.8
In process of rolling back to 10.0.7, right thing to do?

Mar 29, 2013 2:08 PM in response to eric199by Tom Wolsky,640 x 480.
That's not a standard video format. What are the complete specs and how did the media get into FCP?

Mar 29, 2013 2:20 PM in response to eric199by eric199,I imported a file from hard disk that was converted using Media Converter from M2TS.
Original captured from VCR using Hauppauge and HDPVRCapture.
Sorry, MP4 not mov.
Format MPEG-4, 654 x 480
AAC, 44100 Hz, Stereo (L R)
25 fps
Data size 2.35 GB
Data rate 5.14 Mbit/s
Current size 654 × 480 (Actual)
All worked like a dream for past couple weeks, exact same work flow.
Thank you for help.

Mar 29, 2013 3:12 PM in response to eric199by Tom Wolsky,Wow. Not sure what this is, completely non-standard. It's wider than normal, but not wide screen. It has compressed audio at the wrong sample rate, which is almost always a no-no. And it's not QuickTime. Really not sure how to handle this without distorting the video. You could try Compressor or MPEG Streamclip making a QuickTime movie with a custom size. Use the ProRes codec and change the audio to uncompressed 48k.

Well, those numbers screem PAL to me.. or maybe a movie made for an old [VGA] computer setup.
And no, it's not the 'correct' PAL DVD format, but it might be PAL anyway..

Mar 29, 2013 3:29 PM in response to Jakob Peterhänselby Tom Wolsky,PAL is 720x576 rectangular pixels.
NTSC is 720x480 rectangular pixels. There is a square pixel variation used for NTSC media that's 640x480, but that's never 25fps. But this media isn't even that, it's 654x480. Widescreen square pixel NTSC is sometimes given as 640x360 or also as 853x480.

Mar 29, 2013 3:47 PM in response to eric199by eric199,Trying to figure what is wrong with FCPX update. Despite the video configuation, have been successfuly using this setup for several weeks. The data are captured from 10 year old VHS tapes, so the quality coming out isn't an issue, terrible anyway.
Wondering why FCPX update application can't execute any Shares. The eror box comes up in less than a second. All permissions are OK, just local hard drive under single admin user login.
Mac Pro 2 x 3.06 6-core
32GB 1333 MHz
10.8.3
Anybody else having or heard of this issue with 10.0.8?
Thanks for input.

Apr 2, 2013 7:34 PM in response to eric199by MetalJesusRocks,I'm getting the same error this week trying to create a new video. This only started with the new 10.8 update to Final Cut Pro X. I've tried going to whatever spot in the timeline I think may be causing the error, but there is nothing suspect. Not sure what else to do... Never had a problem until now.

Apr 5, 2013 5:17 PM in response to MetalJesusRocksby eric199,I rolled back to 10.0.7, not a problem now.
So I don't think the file format had anything to do with it.
Any suggestions for work around?

Apr 5, 2013 6:01 PM in response to eric199by Pro Optics,I re-inserted the same video file on top of the original one in my project file and didn't do any color correction or filters on that specific part & that resolved the issue, but i know that is temporary until the next update

May 12, 2013 4:41 AM in response to joffbby Russ H,The fixes that seem to work the most often (but not 100% of the time):
Find the presumed guilty clip in the Time Line and replace with a different version.
Turn off background rendering, Delete renders. Copy sequence to new project.
