An AOL email account got hacked and sent out spam ads using the email user name the password was changed by hacker

Had AOL reset the password, but a few days later it was hacked again. Any remedies and how do I check the Apple for

If the AOL account keeps getting hacked, that is a problem with AOL and not Apple security.  You might want to create an entirely new account and have the current account disabled.

Unless you opened an email attachment nothing should be on your Mac.  Email providers are hacked regularly, gmail has been hit at least twice this year alone.  Periodically changing yourpasswordsis a big help.  You can also do a restart of your Macto make sure anything that is running in the background is stopped.
