Not only Maxis is having such 3G connectivity issue, same happened to mine using DiGi as well. I don't have such issue with my 4S previously.

To simplify the issue, there are 2 variations where commonly happened and resulted in no 3G connections:

    1) Connected to WiFi, when out of WiFi coverage, 3G will not be activated back automatically. Tried switching off and on 3G / Airplane mode will not help. Only Reset Network Setting or Reset the Phone.

    2) Connected to 3G, 3G connectivity drops when certain areas were out of coverage, it will not be able to turn back on. Same case as above, only Reset Network Setting or Reset the Phone can solve it.

This is getting frustrating, I have to reset my phone / network settings for many times in a day just to access to 3G.

    Apple Support, PLEASE do something!

I am now able to confirm that it is a carrier issue and not a issue on the hardware. Atleast That's my case. I got a chance to test out 3G connectivity in a few different cities. And each time I checked I got 3G in just a few seconds a maximum of maybe 10-15 seconds delay. And I did some speed test on 3G using the speedtest app by ookla. Got speeds between 300kB/s to 700kB/s. Thats the average speed in most carrier here. I got about 300kB/s when there was just 3 gsm signal and when I connected to 3G (which also connected in only few seconds) I got a fluctuating 3G signal strength between 1 to 3.

If my iPhone 5 can perform in such low signal strength, I don't know why there's no 3G connectivity at home. My iPhone 4 connects to 3G but its too **** slow like ~50kB/s. But either of my iPhone connect only to edge most of the time at home. While using a dongle there's no problem in using 3G though.

And I don't think it's a software issue either. Apple or whatever carriers we are using just don't know to explain the issues or to rectify it.

Apple...no response.. how disappointing !!!

Did you get any feedback so far ??? Do you think a change of hardware (new iphone unit would help???)

Like that I will out of hand phone to use! If they agree is a hardware issue I have to wait another weeks for them to order from Singapore! It sound so stupid, now I wait for apple care senior advisor help me talk with switch skip the long wait for replacement.

Oh I forgot to mentioned.. I took out my nano simcsrd from my dreaded iphone 5.. got a adaptor to make my nano became micro again.. insert it in my samsung note 2 LTE .. on the phine and immediately got 4g signal.. the speeds are faster than my unifi 10mbps .. lol.. I dun even need to call maxis to activate the 4g.. its there.. as 4g is actually an upgrade same like when edge can go 3g.. I was so happy and the sadness to not have an iphone anymore is gone.. now I see my frens that are still using iphone 5 I pity them.. wanna gempak use iphone but have to put up to connectivity issues.. omg..
