I should say it's a Kodak ESP 3.2s, all-in-one machine, and very posh it looks too.

Mar 28, 2013 9:32 AM in response to Raw beginnerby Knucklesmac,★HelpfulHello,
It's good to see the new printer's system requirements list a PowerPC G4.
Indeed Mac OS X 10.5 and above is the system requirement and stated it will not support Mac OS X 10.4.
Is your iBook above 867Mhz with at least 512MB of memory? If so then I would upgrade to Mac OS X 10.5.
It could be an expensive option, but would prolong the life of your iBook, by provideing a little more application support that has dropped for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
If possible, upgrading Mac OS X is your only real option.

Mar 29, 2013 9:28 AM in response to Knucklesmacby Raw beginner,And where would I find details of such an upgrade Knuckles? I've scanned the list of 150 upgrades on Apple's site but see no reference to such a thing.
My laptop is rated at 1.4GHz and 512MB of memory; does this sound about right to you?

Mar 29, 2013 12:34 PM in response to Raw beginnerby Knucklesmac,★HelpfulHello,
You can upgrade to Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. You will need the retail DVD disk which you can obtain from places like Amazon or eBay. Word of warning its not going to be a cheap upgrade as some vender sell for a lot of money.
Avoid the grey disks and look for a black disk with a big X on it.
Your iBook is more than okay to run it.

Mar 31, 2013 8:04 AM in response to Knucklesmacby Raw beginner,Problem solved Knuckles. On the grounds that PC World actively misled me about the compatibility of the Kodak I returned it and they refunded me without any problem. I then went to our local, high street dealer who was a fund of useful knowledge and sold me a suitable Canon printer which is now up and running. And if anything, it's even prettier than the Kodak! There's a lesson in there somewhere.
Thanks again for your help.

Sounds to me very much like PC World who are in the habit of misleading their customers at times.
Please to see you have resolved this problem and you have a working printer for the dear old iBook.
