I would start with trying a restart. Hold the Home buttonand the wake/sleep button both down until the silver Apple logo appears on the screen (ignore the slide to power off since you say teh slide festures don't work). If that doesn't help, then You could try connecting to iTunes and restoring from your most recent backup. If your backup isn't recent, you may lose some contents, on your iPhone, but if you can't use it at all, haven't you already "lost" that content? If both of those fail, then I would suggest making a genius bar appointment and seeing if they can help you out.

This happened to me today too I've only had my phone 2 months....gutted! I rang up Apple and they went through backing up my phone, restoring it and updating it and no luck. I was made an appointment when an Apple store and was told they will give me a new one on.
Fingers crossed you get yours sorted too.
