how can i "clean" apps?

how can I clean my Apps that have alot of data on them without deleting the app

    I know exactly what you mean, I've just done this myself. Go to settings>general>usage. Then wait for your apps to load up (may take a few seconds to load). Scroll down to the apps you wish to 'clean up' I.e Facebook.  Select the app and then tap on the "delete" button - yes it deletes the app but nothing is lost. Head over to the App Store and re-install Facebook or whatever other apps you have cleaned... And there you have it, all your apps are back in place just as they were before, just now you have tons more memory free! (you don't even have to log back in to your apps too!) hope this helps!
