Q: Messages won't connect to iMessage account

I am facing a problem with Messages not connecting to my iMessage account. I have tried changing the password and removing preference files but without any luck. I can connect on my iPad and iPhone without any problems.

The problem occurred when I upgraded my iPhone 4 to iPhone 5 and also purchased an iPad Mini.

When I click Sign In on teh Mac it spins for a while and then says: The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later.

Any suggestions welcome!

I've had an advancement on this problem this afternoon but still not fixed. I had Messages turned off and went into System Preferences and then Mail, COntacts and Calendars and I suddenly got a pop up asking for the password to enable iMessage, entering this and then opening Messages came up with confirmation of teh settings but it still appears as Inactive.

Selecting it from teh list on teh left hand side I can see all the options but they are greyed out and next to Enable this account is a spinner that has been continuous for 5 minutes.

Final advancement. I quit Messages which then wouldn't reopen but I tried opening FaceTime which needed to be turned on again and once that had activated I was able to reopen Messages and Enable the Account this time worked within a few seconds so I am back up and running.
