can i set up 4 sim of 4 gb in my 21.5 inch mid 2011 to have 16 gb of ram?, and what kind of dim do i have to buy?

    Yes, you can. You can actually go up to 32GB in the mid-2011 iMac (four 8GB DIMMs). It takes 204-pin PC3-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMMs. Other World Computing (OWC) and Crucial are good vendors if you're in the US; just tell them what iMac you have and they'll set you up with the correct memory.
