I have a PowerBook Pismo that I am wanting to disable the internal hard drive. Will the built-in Open Firmware be able to do this, and do you know what command will do it?

PowerBook, Mac OS X (10.3.x), 10.3.9, 512mb RAM, 40GB hard drive

Why would u want to disable the internal hard drive? Has it gone bad? Do you hear any clicking sounds? These maybe signs the drive is going bad. To my knowledge there is no Open Firmware command to disable any hard drive.. you can only unmount devices.. to totally disable it you would need to open the laptop up and unplug the 40 pin IDE cable.
