Q: Mountain Lion 10.8.3 problems

I updated to 10.8.3 a few days ago, through the App store. Now, Wifi connection to my HP printer doesn't work, and no secure connection to the App Store is possible. Any ideas about how to solve this please? I'm running an iMac 2009. Thanks

What version did you upgrade from?

Also, could you please give me the model of printer that you are using?

This should be a pretty simple fix, I just need that information so I can give your the correct steps for what you need to do.

    I upgraded from 10.8.2

My printer is an HP Photosmart 6510.

I succeeded in booting in Safe mode, managed to get into the App store and downloaded Airport 6.2 update.

But this hasn't solved the printer wireless problem and nor can I get into the App store outside Safe mode.

    Thanks for yuor help!

    Regarding your iMac  problems:

    Try the basics first:

Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.

Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.

    System Preferences>Network

    Click the Assist Me button.

In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

Research Knowledge Base for network problems that pertain to the OS that is currently installed on your computer.   See these basic networking KB Articles:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1401 AirPort troubleshooting guide

Suggest you delete the airport service in Systems Preferences/Network "-" and then recreate it "+"  You may have to reconnect your printer to your Mac via the USB cable installation process.

Did you repair permissions after the installaiton?

Try booting into the Safe Mode.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

My 2009 imac is also unable to print to my hp officejet pro 8500 after 10.8.3 upgrade and screen is now constantly freezing. I am getting a message that my startup disk is full but have 1.5Tb still free. Does anyone have a diagnostic tool that might help or any ideas?

Try changing your network security settings from WEP to WPA2
