So, I'm able to connect my tape deck phone outlet into my iMac mic inlet and use quicktime to capture the audio and export it to itunes.

I have a lot of tapes to do.

I want to clip each file of non audio between songs and when the tape changes direction.

I'd also like to break them apart into individual songs and export them into itunes.

I prefer to use keyboard shortcuts.

I'm running mountain lion with the standard home consumer software. So, far, I've found quicktime too difficult to use for splitting, so I thought I'd try garageband. But, I can't find a way to save the split sections without having to reload the song, which takes a long time on my imac.

I used to use audacity on my old core duo and it allows you to split and export from keyboard shortcuts.

Is there any way I can use garageband to do what audacity did?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)
