Did all that. But I get video and the chime. Well I made an appointment at 12:30 tomorrow and I'm going to see what the problem is. I'll tell you what apple says. I don't want to pay a mother load of money too fix it so I'm going to see the problem and fix it myself. I have another mac that's what I'm posting on.

Sorry for the long reply. Well what happened is that the hard drive was dead and the dvd drive. There was a power surge and fried them both, but the other stuff is still in tact. Replaced both of those and re-installed Mac OS X 10.6 and boom it worked like a charm. I am now working on a mod for my PPC iMac G4, going to convert it to intel i3 wish me luck! Hey Johnnyi have the same issue. It's been about a year and haven't got it fixed yet. This guy at the apple store told me it was water damaged and would cost $700 to fix. I'm wondering if it cost you a lot to get fixed. Mines is a 2009 as well with OS X 10.6. I'm thinking about getting a second opinion and hope they don't say the same as the first guy. Cause my computer still turns on.

So sorry for the late reply (school work and stuff) but I just bought a hard drive 500gb 7200rpm from Best Buy (about $90 +tax) and unscrewed the back plate of the mac and removed the hard drive and put the new one in. Then I put in the disc that came with the Mac and held down the C key to boot into the cd drive. Then opened disk utility to format the hard drive, and I installed OS X and it worked, no more clicking. I also figured out that my disc drive was not busted, just the cable was loose so that is not part of the problem. The total cost was about $105.
