Q: How do I connect my Imac to a dual USB Ibook?

I want to connect my Imac to my old dual usb Ibook, erase the drive, andd install 9.1 on it so I can hook up my old JAZ drive, get the stuff off of the disks, and transfer it to my Imac.

The cable ends are defeating me. First of all, will it work? My Imac has USB 2 and the Ibook has USB. Second, when I look at Best Buy, Staples, etc., the talk about male USB ends and female USB connnections.

What will work to hook them together,, and then can I use Disk Utility on the Imac to erase the drive on the Ibook?

BTW - Iomega JAZ drives will only work on OS 9, not OSX.

TIA

iBook, Mac OS X (10.2.x) , Dual USB

Erase the drive from the Mac OS 9.1 install CD instead of from the iMac. If for some reason you must do it from the iMac, connect the computers with a FireWire cable, start up the iBook with the T key held down, and format the drive from the Disk Utility in the APM partition table format and with Mac OS 9 drivers.
