As you are discussing baseband my guess is that your phone was hacked to unlock it. Error -1 is most common in this situation. If the phone was hacked or jailbroken you cannot get help in an Apple-hosted forum, and there may be no solution at all. But you may be able get help with a Google search.

If you have tried all troubleshooting steps in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3125 then the device could be up for replacement if still under it's hardware warranty. Contact AppleCare for more options.

I have the exact same issue with my iPhone 5. I reviewed mine two Dazs ago from apple care as a replacement as my iPhone had a bad battery. The setup of the new iPhone 5 went absolutely fine and I could use it all along. Until Saturday (yesterday). The iPhone kept loosing the connection to my provider (t-Mobile here in Germany). I then called apple care yesterday and they told me to restore it as a new phone. Did that and since then I have the -1 error popping up in iTunes... Unfortunately my iPhone is already in recovery mode, so that won't help either....
Any new solutions to this problem?
