thanks a ton for this.
so, if i uncheck "remove saved names and passwords" safari will retain the passwords in the Safari Preferences is that right?
can i also just ask you if it makes sense that 1pass and safari prefs don't conflict in any way? i mean, there is no reason not to just ckick OK when this happens even if i have this saved as a pass in 1pass? OR is there a way to turn off this prompt if i want to turn it off?
and - do you know what is stored in keychain? i mean, is it everything except internet passwords or system level information and /some/ internet based passwords - or - - well what is in there exactly as it relates to this kind of issue...?

In theory, if it is unchecked, the passwords will be retained. Safari retained mine when I unchecked it.
I have never used 1pass, so I don't know how 1pass and Safari interact.
I don't think there is anything in Keychain that relates to this issue.

many thanks for straightening this out for me eric.
just one last here.
i wonder if anyone knows if i can turn off the prompt from safari to remember a password. this is one more clickthrough that i think i don't need and it would be good to get rid of...
