    Contact your Internet Service Provider.

My ISP gave me a wireless modem/router free.

You need to purchase a broadband connection from (if it is available in your area) and pay a monthly fee to your internet service provider for it. As mentioned, they will have a modem/router available for free, for a monthly rent, or you can purchase one that is compatible with their service.
