Q: Getting error message "The share operation master file has failed"  error occurred when creating farme ..... (error -1).  Any idea why this happened?  Using Apple pro res 422 format.

I am trying to share my film to put on idvd.  I used the Apple Pro Res 422 setting before and it worked fine.  This time I am getting the error message "The share operation master file has failed."  an error occurred when creating frame ..... (error -1).  Is this a bug?  I am currently using the setting Apple Pro Res 422 LT, but it is taking forever to finish.  Any idea of what is causing this problem?

I fixed the problem.  I followed a suggestion to change the timeline to frames rather than time and discovered that the frame that could not be written was one area of my project.  When I scrubbed through it I noticed that the image flickered from image to black.  When left stationary the black would become an image.  This did not happen in any other part of my project.  When I deleted this segment and replaced it with the same favorite, it still did the same thing.  I recontructed the favorite clip and it still did the same thing.  I copied the entire project and created a new project.  I pasted the copy into the new project and the problem did not re-occur.  I shared the project with pro res 422 without waiting to have the project rendered.  It took a bit longer, but the project turned out fine.

I don't know if the rendering caused the bad segment or just a bad import.  The funny thing was that when I copied and pasted the same project into a new created project --it worked fine.

After you found the problem area, did you trash the render files for that project?

I copied the original project and pasted it into a new project.  I shared it before it rendered.  I deleted the problematic project.  The project worked without error after that.  Before I copied and pasted I tried trashing the rendered files, but this still didn't work.  I had to copy the problematic project into a new project.

    Hi Joe

Another newbie question - when you say you copied a project into a new project - do you mean that you copied all of the timline elements from one project into a new project, and then trashed the old project and render files?

    Thanks

    Tory

Before deleting anything I copied the entire timeline of material loaded in the project.  I then created a new project and named it something different. I then copied the timeline whole into the new project.  I did not wait to let the project render but immediately started sharing using pro res 422 setting.  This worked.  After the quick time movie was finished and I knew it worked I then deleted the old project and just kept the new one.

thanks for the trouble shooting.  Seems you could also just trash the render files for the project (File>Delete Project Render files...) instead of all the copying and duplicating,

I had this same error message today and fixed it by changing the permissions for the Events folder and all of its enclosed items. (Get Info, then add Read & Write permissions for the current user, then click the gear wheel and Apply to enclosed items).

I had been sharing the project and events between two computers and some of the assets had Read & Write permissions for another user only.

    Hope this helps.

I am also facing the same problem no matter what the length of the project is. and it al started after updating to 10.0.8.

I trashed the render files - and solved the problem once.

I adjusted the frame by making changes in color correction sometimes that solved the problem

and I also replaced audio in other project and solved the problem

so no particular pattern or solution.

but try making change to that frame and it works..

Same issue here.  There is a small section i would like to export within a giant project.  Rather than re-render the entire project... i like the idea of copying the small section and doing a re-render in a new project.

I tried to (command C) the section then after opening a new project hitting (Command V).  This didn't work.  Does anyone know if its possible to cut and paste a portion of one project into another?

Can someone tell me how to change the timecoder to display frames ranther than time so I can pinpoint the issue each time this occurs?

    Thank you!

Works for me. What are you doing that you can't make a selection, copy it, and paste into a new project?

Sure. Easiest way is use the range tool.

But you don't have to create another project. Just select your range in the giant project and export unrendered.

    Good luck.

Yes, the cutting from one proj and pasting to another finally worked.  Thx

I do however like the idea of selecting a range and "exporting unrendered."  How do I export unrendered?

Also...can someone tell me how to change the timecoder to display frames ranther than time so I can pinpoint the issue each time this occurs?

Use that range tool again. Ignore the orange render bar and then go to Share>destination.

What do you mean by exported unrednered? If you switch off background rendering and trash your render files, you will export without rendering. Is that what you mean?
