Hi Stuart, if you do the PMU reset, only do it once.
I guess it's not connected to the Internet and/or Date & Time pref pane not set to automatically set from Internet?

Thanks for the advice, I already know to do it just the once but am wondering whether the hard drive will be affected by the reset ... would it be wise to remove it before resetting?

I've never heard of it affecting the Hard Drive, I don't see how it could.

Of course you're right, I'm just being overly cautious. Reset the pmu, first 2 boot ups still had 2040 date but have had 3 consecutive with correct date. I'll just take each day as it comes and see how it goes, I can't say I haven't had my monies worth
