Some additional information might be helpful:
How long is "forever"?
Are you experiencing this slowdown while using wifi or cellular?
What measure are you using to determine that your "internet speed is fine"?
Did you buy these episodes from the iTunes Store or another supplier?

you might want to power cycle your router, when connecting a new dvice to a router it will give it a low prioity on the network.
1. turn off all your dvices
2. unplug your wirless router for 1 min.
3. plug the router back in and once all of the lights are green, or blue (depends on the router) turn on the ipad first then the other dvices, this will give your ipad a higher rank in the router.

It takes around 3 hours to download each episode from iTunes . I'm using wifi ..it was working perfectly fine the first time and I watched the episode while it was downloading so I don't know what's wrong now and when I'm trying to download the speedtest app just to be sure but it's not downloading .i restarted my router earlier too. My roommates Mac book is working perfectly fine.. So is it just the iPad speed that's not good enough or something?

If you haven't done so already, I would turn off and disconnect all devices besides your iPad. Try the downloads then, when it is the onlydevice connected. I would also verify your network is secure and that you don't have any unexpected outside users of your wi-fi network. The following document reviews many of the basics of wi-fi troubleshooting
but at the bottom of it, there is a link about "configuring your wi-fi router for use with iOS devices". I would work through that. If you haven't updated your router firmware, I would do that.
