OS X Mountain Lion system requirements
To install Mountain Lion, you need one of these Macs:
- iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
- MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
- MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
I have a 2007 MacBook and also can upgrade to Mountain Lion.
Then it must not be a late 2007 model. I have one, a late model 2007 MacBook Pro and ML works on it.
It's not when you bought the Mac, it's when the model was introduced.
You need at least a MacBook Pro 3.1.
Use the Apple Menu's, "About This Mac," then press the "More Info" button, then press the "System Report" button, look for the model identifier.
Mountain Lion runs just as good, if not better, than Lion. Lion was like the unfinished version of Mountain Lion.
You haven't max'd out your RAM though, I'm running 6 Gigs. I recommend that you visit OWC, if you're interested in maxing it out: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/MacBook/Pro/Core2/
I have also noticed that my mac runs alot cooler than it did with Snow Leopard. I didn't notice that with Lion, but chose to run Snow Leopard in lieu of Lion.
