Mail will not quit and is sending emails repeatedly. I cannot delete emails permanently either. Never had any problems previously with mail not sure whats going on?

Try Force Quit.   Apple logo menu > Force Quit > Highlight Mail > click.

If you are still having trouble with Mail check your version details.   Mail menu > about Mail > the version number should be 4.6 (1085).

It seems more like a machine glitch than an ISP one.   Two things to try ...

    1. Disc Utilities > Repair permissions.  Then try Mail again.

    2. Download and apply the Combo update.   Takes a bit of time but doesn't matter if you have done it before.   It tends to shake up the system a bit and corrects any minor corruption.
