Are you showing me the information for the original stuttering file or the converted ProRes version?

Put the file on a flash stick and go to the Apple Store.  If it plays fine on a new iMac, you know the solution to your problem...

yes this is Pro Res converted version.. there are several versions within ProRes, I tried them all.

The clips came from Canon 600D camera... I took the SD chip to Canon. seemed to play ok on their machine although they only played a few seconds.... now Im seeing that the stuttering is starting further into the clip. I will take the chip back and play the clips right through but ya, new computer I can see that.

Really considering Hackintosh this time. Less money, More options to upgrade or customize the system, when it becomes obsolete, parts can be swapped out, unlike G5 which is basically garbage.

Even the browsers don't work right on this machine. I've tried all the aftermarket browsers, they lag, they crash, the get stuck in "bleachable mode"..

... and I try to post this, doesnt work.

I reload the page, luckily I had it saved in clipboard,

refresh the page, re-paste, then it goes through

now I see its gone through twice and I don't know how to remove it.

cannot post a blank post on this forum - no way to delete it that I can see.

Don't worry about the double post.

The point of having you download MediaInfo Mac was to analyze the original file that caused the stuttering, not the ProRes converted file that does not have stuttering.

In any event, I suspect that the original file has one or more composition aspects that are just too complex for a PowerPC Mac to handle.

For the price, the new Mac Mini is a great machine for what you need and you can chose the best size display for your video editing needs.

    GOOD LUCK!

    thanks Michael

I was thinking about MiniMac but others said not to beucase they cannot be expanded.

    What about a used ProMac?

or there was a 20inch Imac with all the software loaded 2 intel processors (4 cores) at 2.8ghz not really a big step up from what I have but its intel and runnign FCP X

I think you cna pllug a 2nd monitor into it too.

    asking $550.00

but Id rather go for an up to date powermac.

also a guy quoted me 2500 for a Hackintosh with both mac and windows on it. it would have been 6 processors, 3.9ghz, 32gb ram, 2 SSD bluray burner,

do you think thats a good way to go? pc is upgradable and cheaper than mac.

You get what you pay for.  I, for one, will not recommend any PC solution attempting to run OS X or otherwise.

You are worried about the "non-upgradability" of a mac mini; and how long have you owned and operated a PowerPC Mac?

It's $500!  When the new Mac Pro is released, donate it to charity!

I suggest you wait for the new Mac Pro or buy the least costly Intel Mac you can find that is reliable and then upgrade when the new Mac Pro is released.

Besides having a Mac Mini for $500 is always a valuable redundant backup computer when hardware fails...

very true. I like mini mac too and for 500.00, cant go wrong. .. but I think its like 1000 isent it?

I have a pc thats called a "ZBox" you choose the components.. I got SSD 4G ram.. all goes together in a small plastic box... a bit smaller than mini mac but I plug 2 monitors in to it and had to get external burner/reader. got lots of plugs, USBIII etc.

.. and there's that double posting again - function of the browser.
