I have just moved all my iTunes music from PC to a MacBook. What will happen if I plug my iPod, which is synced to the PC into the Mac? Will it recognise it? Will it work? Will it re sync itself?

iTunes will present a dialog box similar to the following:

    erase and sync.png

The choices are exactly as they say:

Transfer Purchases will transfer purchased iTunes content from the iPod to the MacBook.

Erase and Sync will erase the iPod first, then sync it to the MacBook's iTunes Library. Therefore, if you no longer want to sync the iPod to the PC, transfer the PC's iTunes Library to the Mac. The iPod's content will be replaced with what is contained in your iTunes Library when you sync it.

An iPod can only be synced to one iTunes Library at a time.

My question is somewhat the same.  I have a moderate sized library of iTunes movies/music/tv shows on my PC laptop and have been using it to load/sync to my 2 nanos, 5 iPODs, two iPhone 5s, and my 2 iPads as well as using it to airplay to my Apple TV. I also have the library loaded on my other two Windows laptops and my big desktop PC.   I have my entire itunes library and files (56GB) backed up onto a USB 3.0 Portable hard drive.

Yesterday, I bought this great Mac Pro retina display laptop. (Sweet, and bloody fast).   Now my question is two parts:

    1. If I can hook up my Portable 3.0 hard drive via USB to the Mac (worked with flashdrives yesterday) to the Mac then how can I load (and to what location) my itunes files/library onto the Mac?  (I have authorized the Mac and my "purchased items" music/movies are already playing just fine on the Mac).

    2. If I am successful with question #1 above, then how do I gently begin moving my newer devices (5th gen iPod and Nano) to sync with the Mac instead of my windows laptop without getting the Mac and those devices all "scrambled" with "double loading" the Mac, etc. ?

I am also an old Mobile Me user so have an iCloud account, would that be any help in this matter?
