Q: Sharing to DVD all my projects stops att 66 % - without error messages.

Sharing to DVD all my projects stops att 66 % - without error messages.

I'm a beginner in Final Cut Pro X. Not good at ¨computer terms¨ and computers so please take it easy when explaining.

My first three project was succesfully . (I then had no background image.)The fourth project (about 59 minutes) was at first successfully even with a background image. (But when I played the DVD on my DVD-player it stopped completely after 45 minutes, but went on when I tried to play it again, from the place where it stopped.) Then I replaced the background image with another and after that it stopped at 66 %. I read about the error -29 and made my image ¨smaller¨  but nothing happened. I also made the project shorter, about 57 minutes, nothing happened.

I tried a couple of completely new project from 2 – 20 minutes long – the same happened, it stopped at 66 %. (Read about deleting render files and tried that too without results.)  I have a Mac OS X 10.8.3 Mountain Lion

Grateful for help after a week with problems. It’s a dancing project and people are waiting for the DVD…

    Update:

I tested a few discs without using the workaround and all seems OK.

Mine seems to work as it used to now the"switch" is on.

Can you test this on your gear please?

Yes. Same thing here. Apparently, whatever woke up Create Disk has kept it awake and no further gymnastics have been required since…several tests later.

I have an AVCHD disk somewhere and I'll test that too…or make a new one if I can't locate it.

    Good news.

I'm putting it down to an inadvertent bug squashing. :-)

Back to the beginning with 66% error. I tried to find out if something of your idéas can help me (after paus Sunday) on my ¨level¨...

It's strange that I first manage to burn at least three projekt, the last one with a still image. And suddenly, when i changed the still image in that projekt the problem with 66% began. And now all projekts stops at 66%. (Have tried all your advice on the background image carefully without results.) Do you mean that this can be solved by the ¨Create disk¨?

Have tried to find Create disk: Applications/Final Cut Pro.app/Contents/Plug-ins/Compressor/CompressorKit bundle/Contents/EmbeddedApps, but when i come into CompressorKit bundle, I only find a message about my last login !?

If I find it, what to do with it? (What does ¨work around¨ mean?) Does it help the 66% error?

Even if I can burn my projekts in another way outsida FCP (I'm working on it), I don't like to have something crashed in my FCP.

The create Disc is an auto actived app found buried in the FCP X Package:

    Applications>FCP X>Show Package Contents>Contents>Plugins>Compressor>Compressor Kit.bundle>Show Package Contents>Embedded Apps>Create Disc

You can place the Create Disc icon in the Dock so you can quickly open it to see what is going on.

You will see a spinning action to it to confirm something is happening if it switches on during a DVD burn.

66% is where FCP X will hand the job to Create Disc to start the burn process.

As we all have found out for some unknown reson this hand over process is stopped and the burn fails.

The suggestions in this thread may get Create Disc to switch on.

    Thanks for that.

But the problem is thus: when I come into ¨Compressor Kit.bundle¨  I find nothing else but a message about my last login.

    That's very odd.

Can you post a screen shot of what you see there?

At the top of the window frame: ¨CompressorKit.bundle - bash-80x24¨

    then - in the window:

My last login date and clock (today). And then my [name]-imac: CompressorKit.bundle¨ and my full namne

    That's all

I've never seen this (what I think you're describing). Are you right-clicking on CompressorKit.bundle and then choosing Show Package Contents?

Didn't know that I should right-click (feel like a fool). Have done (I think) what you say.

I have the Create Disk i the Dock and set a small projekt to burning but cannot see any spinning when I click on the icon. (The ¨background tasks¨ shows ¨sharing¨ 66 % as usual with the blue ¨rand¨ flickering.)

Click the Create Disc icon in the Dock and Create Disc will appear at the top of your screen.

Click File>Recent to see if there is anything in the Recent list, if so,click one.

This may kick start the burn.

I have done as you say, but can't see any ¨Create Disc¨ at the top of my screen. I will think about it a little more later, if I am ¨blind¨ , because I have to leave now.

Finally! From 66% to 100! Burning slowly awoke into life. It took three DVD burning to reach 100%, and there were no chapters and the last one was not playable at all. Perhaps it depends on all canceled burnings that awoke. (After my first ¨ordered¨burning¨, 2 windows just came up one after onother with different projects and asked for burning.)                       I haven’t time in this moment to work on it but – Al and Russ – I’m very happy for this help so long, and I feel like the rest is a minor problem.

It's a fine thing when the light at the end of the tunnel gets switched on.

Once mine worked it has continued to work this far.

I would suggest to actually burn any backlog of projects in Create Disc so it clears them correctly.

Yes anyway it's good to see the light somewhere over there...

    1. You said: ¨I would suggest to actually burn any backlog of projects in Create Disc so it clears them correctly.¨ Where do I find the backlog?

    2. My old project began to move from 66% to 100 when I went to Create Disc – and clicked at recent projects and that was really a great progress, but how do I get a new project or a changed project to burning without that stop at 66 %?

( Perhaps is following another ¨discussion¨. If not: Am I right that there are no navigable chapter menu in FCP as in iDVD? If I can’t get the iDVD (that I am used to) in this new iMac, I must have some other possibility to make a real chapter menu. Is Apple’s Compressor the solution? (Don’t know anything else about it.)
