Hi all,

I'm using Mac OS X 10.6. I've changed my keyboard language to a forieng language (Vietnamese) while I was working with my Mac. Then the computer was on sleep. Now I cannot login again because the keyboard is in foreing language that has no number buttons and my password has number in it.

How can I change the input language back to English?

IMPORTANT: please don't tell me to go to System preference. I'm at the login window and cannot type in password.

                      I've tried Command+Space , Command+Option+Space, Command+Shift. None of them works

Thanks,

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Which one exactly?  The keyboard called "Vietnamese" has numbers if you hold down the alt/option key.

I have similar problem. My input source is Vietnamese and now I cannot type my password at login screen due to the fact that I cannot type certain letters. There are no physical problem with those keys because I can still type it in the username box, it's just not work for password box. Anyone has the solution for my problem? I did try to shut down and start the MacBook Air again but the problem is still there. Many thanks

If you tell me which Vietnamese input source you are using and which letters you cannot type, I might be able to tell you how to make them.

Vietnamese input source is already there in my Mac, I only need go to keyboard and select it then I can choose to switch to Vietnamese by clicking the country flag at the top right hand corner. Is there different Vietnamese input source? By the way, right now I cannot type "i", "o" and "e". There are other letters that I cannot type as well but those three letters are in my password so I need to use them. And I still can type those letters at the "name" box but it just not working at the "password" box. Whenever I type those letters at the "password" box, I just hear a sound.

I did restarted the laptop (hold down the power key until the laptop shut down and start the laptop again) but everything is still the same.

    Please help, thanks

Here is something to try, though I doubt it will work.

For i, o, and e, type ir, or, and er and then press the delete key once to get rid of the r.

Thanks for trying to help me out. But the way you told me is not working. When I type any of those "i", "o", "e" there is nothing come out, not even a wrong letter, it's just have a sound and empty space like I never type anything. I think I need to find other solutions, I don't want to lose anything in my laptop. Anyway, thank you very much for your help. I do really appreaciate.

Insert an external keyboard via USB port and use that keyboard to enter your password to login. That what I did; simple and it's work. Hope it can solve your problem too.
