I have a similar issue, but it sounds a little bit different.  I am running 10.6 server, and I am trying to automount the home directories in the dock through Workgroup Manager as people here have described.  When a user logs in, I don't encounter the  "Select the volumes you want to mount on "servername" dialogue box.  Instead, the users home folder appears as a question mark on the dock.  The question mark is unresponsive when clicked, and is more or less useless.  I can still connect to the server and mount the network home share manually, but the automount in dock option in WGM doesn't appear to be working correctly.  Has anyone else encountered this, or know a workaround?
