Q: what does unknown error (-50) mean

Nice how the support page blames you when it happens...

The error will come up once in a while, and the only answer is to go away and come back tomorrow.   Apple will always say it's not their fault, even though you haven't done anythign different today than any other day.

Right now I can't download anything from the itunes sture becasue fo the same error...

I don't get it...Never had any problems with error codes (i.e.--50) popping up, since I bought my iPhone two years ago!  I should be updating 3 apps, but can't because "Unknown error occurred (-50)".  Pretty frustrating!

same problem here. who knows what apple did to screw up itunes. i dont even have any current downloads. im trying to redeem one and i get the message. i even tried changing my password, but no luck.

Im having the same problem. Cannot buy any app, redem, even connect on my itunes...

I'm having a problem too. 

I shut down my 'puter earlier in the day.  I return home, fire up the 'puter, check for an app update and I get the same problem (-50). 

Restart the 'puter.  No help.

So instead of disabling all my windows start up programs, should I just wait another day until the problem mysteriously goes away?

Same problem here as well. Strangely enough, I can update my apps on my iPhone and other devices, but not on the computer itself. Hope it is fixed soon...
