I recently upgraded to newest version of itunes.  Now I can't see my 14 playlists on Itunes that show up currently on my Ipod classic.  If I sync, will the playlists go back to the itunes on my computer?  Thanks for the help.

Syncing will remove the playlists from the device and make it match the iTunes library that you see. Search the computer for files of the form *.itl to see what library files are available. Note to view an alternate database you either need to copy & rename files (as shown in the earlier link) to replace the active library file or press & hold down shift as you start iTunes and wait until prompted to create or choose a library.

I did a search for .itl files and found 13 of them.  Here are some of the most recent:

Name of file: iTunes Library located in:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes

size is 1766 KB and last modified on 4/17/13

This would seem to be the most recently modified file, and therefore the active library. This is the one you rename as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl - the name itself isn't important, just that you change it.

Name of file:  iTunes Library 2013-04-08 located in:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Previous iTunes Libraries

size is 4KB and last modified on 4/8/13

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Name of file:  i Tunes Library located in:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\My Music\My Music\iTunes

size is 2151KB and last modified on 1/20/2013

This would seem to be the largest, most recent, alternative file, and therefore most likely to be your proper library. Copy it to C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl

Start iTunes, add the media folder to the library to add in recent imports, back up.

Using the search results, or by browsing, find the file at C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\My Music\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl. Highlight it and press CTRL+C to Copy, then browse to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes and press CTRL+V to paste. Start iTunes.

Apologies, I may have missed something....

    Is your original media in:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\My Music\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media

    and not in:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media ?

If so you need to move the folder iTunes Media from:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\My Music\My Music\iTunes

    to:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes

If there is already an iTunes Media folder in the target location it may be best to rename this as Not iTunes Media first, then once your library is working you can see if there is anything unique inside that media that needs to be added to your library by moving it to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Automatically Add to iTunes.
